A spokesperson for the RCMP says it appears the woman lost control of the compact car she was driving and the vehicle ended up in a ditch.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. NT on Highway 413, near the town of Burlington.

The victim, identified as Olive Jessie Dicks from the community of Ming's Bight, was the sole occupant of the car.

RCMP traffic collision analysts from Deer Lake are investigating and police say the road was snow-covered at the time of the accident.
